A Trading Profile preview is a way to inspect how the settings currently open in the editor would handle a signal, including broker-related checks using a demo MT5 account. It is useful before saving or applying a profile, but it is not a trading action: a preview places no orders, does not apply settings to an account, and does not confirm that a Telegram channel is routed correctly.
Those distinctions matter because a profile can exist in several different states. You may be editing unsaved settings, have a saved version, or have a specific version confirmed on an account. Preview focuses on the settings in the editor; it does not collapse these steps into one. The Trading Profiles documentation explains the separate preview, save, and account-application steps.
What Preview checks—and what it does not
A Trading Profile governs how signals are parsed and how order sizing, order rules, and position management are handled for an account. Preview lets you test a signal against the settings currently in the editor. Those settings can be unsaved, so you can examine a draft before creating a saved version.
The preview can also use a demo account for broker checks. Treat its result as an inspection of the selected signal and settings—not as evidence that an order was sent, accepted, or filled. The documented preview does not place orders and does not apply the editor settings to an account.
It also does not establish that a real Telegram message was received or that a channel is monitoring and routing messages to the account you have in mind. Signal processing, channel routing, account readiness, and the profile version confirmed on an account are separate things to check. If you are investigating a missing trade, the signal troubleshooting guide recommends tracing the message, account routing, readiness, execution details, and broker outcome separately.
Choose a demo account and preview the current editor settings
Start by opening the Trading Profile you want to examine. If you are still adjusting settings, remember that Preview can use the unsaved values currently in the editor. You do not need to save a version simply to inspect those draft settings.
Select a demo MT5 account for the broker checks, then choose a signal to preview. Consider whether the example is suitable for checking the particular settings you have changed. For instance, a preview can help you inspect how the selected signal is interpreted under the current profile and whether the available broker checks raise an issue. It cannot demonstrate how every possible signal format, symbol, or account will behave.
Read the result in context. A preview is not a substitute for checking whether the MT5 account is connected and ready, whether the correct profile version is confirmed on that account, or whether the intended Telegram source is monitored and routed there. A healthy preview alone does not verify any of those separate setup conditions.
Review the result without treating it as an order
Use the preview as a diagnostic step. Review what it indicates about parsing and any broker checks, then decide whether the editor settings need further attention. Avoid interpreting a successful-looking result as a guarantee of execution: the preview does not place an order, and it cannot establish a broker fill or the outcome of a future live signal.
Likewise, a preview result is not proof that a message has passed through Telegram ingestion or channel routing. For an actual signal, the troubleshooting process is different: find the message in Signal Log, check the source and processing details, inspect the receiving account and profile version used, and review Execution History for requests, orders, and fills. A processing status by itself does not prove a fill. The documentation provides these checks in its guide to tracing signals.
If the preview does not match what you expected, review the settings and the signal you selected rather than assuming the account has been changed. Previewing does not save the editor values, replace a confirmed account profile, or undo any separate account setup. Keep those states distinct while diagnosing a result.
Save a version only when you are ready
When the settings are ready to preserve, save the Trading Profile as a version. Saving is a separate action from previewing. It creates a saved version, but does not automatically make that version active on an account or replace the version already applied there.
Next, review the saved version and use the documented application flow for the intended account. The application interface exposes demo accounts; other environments require explicit workspace confirmation. Follow the confirmation shown for the account and wait for the application to complete. Do not infer that a profile is active merely because it was saved or because a preview was run.
This is especially important if you have edited a profile that was already in use. The profile version confirmed on an account can remain different from the newer settings in the editor. Confirm which saved version you are applying, and wait for the platform’s applied confirmation before relying on the change.
Verify the confirmed version and keep routing separate
After application, check the account’s profile status and the confirmed version. The useful question is not simply, “Did I save the profile?” It is, “Which version is confirmed on this account?” If the result is unclear or the action may not have completed, refresh and inspect the account before repeating it. The Trading Profiles documentation specifically advises refreshing uncertain save or application outcomes before retrying.
Then verify the other prerequisites independently. Check that the MT5 account is connected and ready, and separately confirm that the intended Telegram source is monitored and the channel routes to the receiving account. A channel can monitor messages without a receiving account, and selecting a destination does not change the account’s confirmed Trading Profile. These are separate configuration checks, not additional results of Preview.
For a cautious setup, visit AutoMetaTrade and work through one demo account and one profile at a time. Preview the current editor settings, save only when you are ready to preserve a version, apply the version through the account flow, and verify its confirmed status. Keep in mind throughout: Preview helps you inspect settings; it does not place trades, apply a profile, or prove signal routing.
